Being The Hands and Feet of Jesus

Have you ever had that moment when you realize that someone was the hands and feet of Jesus to you?

It was such interesting timing a year ago, having written the Sunday mass reading reflection for US Catholic and the same day driving up to San Francisco to bring a meal to a good friend.

My reflection included my own story of God’s provision for our family with baby #5, a big part of it through our Korean Catholic community. Without even asking, a meal calendar was set up for us and home-cooked meals began showing up at our door. Especially pot after pot of Korean seaweed soup, my postpartum wellness balm. Korean moms, they get the job done.

From them, I have learned generosity. Anticipating needs. And really, the depth of love and warmth that comes in a home-cooked meal.

As I marinated ddak jjim (Korean braised chicken) and stirred a pot of daengjang soup (soybean paste soup) for my friend this weekend, my mind flashed back to all the meals we were so lovingly brought by our community. We were truly cared for by God through them.

What about you? When has God provided through others around you?
